Sony's PlayStation VR branding leaves something to be desired compared to its competition in the space. Oculus, for example, has a very clean and modern design. While the PlayStation logo is iconic, the rest of the branding is bland, uninspiring, and looks cheap. Their advertisements are better, but only target people already familiar with VR, and could be expanded to a larger audience.


To remedy these issues, I sought to:


  • Modernize the design, and help it rise to the level of its competition

  • Market the product as the luxury item it is

  • Appeal to a wider audience, rather than only those already familiar with VR

CHALLENGE

Complete a rebrand for Sony's VR system, including designing new packaging and creating digital advertisements.

SOLUTION

Leveraging market research, I was able to upgrade the branding to be more in line with Sony's competitors. I modernized the branding, and gave it a more luxurious appearance.

RESULT

A/B testing conducted revealed that potential customers viewed the redesigned Sony VR system as more favorable, and were more likely to purchase one.
